Local author Deborah Ann Lucas is excited to be speaking atBertolet Memorial Library about her journey as an author and her memoir DanceWhile the Fire Burns: Family, Identity, and Dreams:
Deborah longs forhorses in her backyard, the courage to create art, and a place where she can flourish.She marries Greg and plants roots in his Midwest hometown, establishing acreative life until news from her brother Chuck diverts her quest. To repay anunspoken debt, she walks away from all she has achieved to move cross countryand start over at UCLA–close to Chuck. As grief and upheaval escalate, amajestic horse comes into her life and teaches her to be still, to breathe, andto heal.
